My Dear

Qwiet Type is an exciting creative force that has returned with yet another outstanding piece of electrifying anthemic alternative rock.

It’s a very energetic and rhythmic piece that is very pleasant to listen to. The singer’s voice is also very pleasant.

The mood and melody, as with any Qwiet Type song, are of the utmost importance and give the music its instantly recognisable feeling of personality.

The performances and composition in “My Dear” as with every Qwiet Type track, are of an exceptionally high calibre. Each performance not only demonstrates a level of maturity and attention to detail that enables the writing’s complexities to be fully realised.

But there is also a palpable sense of synergy between each performer that gives the music the necessary musical depth and a profound sense of character to be continually absorbing.

Too Good To End

Released 11/14/22

The tune moves quickly and is the sonic equivalent to the phrase 'Time flies when you're having fun'. It has a Pop sound tinted with Electronica and Alt. Rock that will appeal to a wide array of listeners. Qwiet Type takes care in crafting the lyrics, and has captured the essence of having a great time with friends. His vocals keep the energy light, and carry the catchy melodies effortlessly. This tune makes quick work of becoming an ear worm, and does so with ease. Gone in a flash, Too Good To End is a moment of pure Pop bliss that will have listener's reaching for the repeat button.

Try Not To Notice

Released 10/13/22

This new tune opens modestly with an acoustic guitar riff before jumping into a heavy groove fit for the dance floor. Overall, ‘Try Not To Notice‘ by Qwiet Type is a killer new Alternative Rock tune that will either have you dancing by yourself, or going for that girl. ‘Try Not To Notice’ left us wanting more. We can not wait to hear what will come next from /such an exciting artist.

I Want More

Released 09/08/22

There’s a really amazing playful vibe present in the new release of Florida-based songwriter and entertainer Matt Powell, better known as Qwiet Type. You gotta love the atmosphere of the tune. Consisting of both innocent minimal sparkling elements as well as enigmatic dark melodies, “I Want More” creates a very special place in space and time, acting like a matured being that always kept the secret of being young.

While the single elements do their thing in a very releaxed setting, the vocals are exploring the atmosphere in a calm and self-determined way. Due to this slow concept, the track sets up its own set of rules as it evolves.

“If you need a beautiful moment of freshness, a ray of sunshine, a few minutes of intense breathing, the new song by Qwiet Type whose musical catalog we are discovering is a good solution.

Entitled "Alone With You" the song settles in like a nice surprise, a few minutes in music that will not fail to go straight to your heart, take you out of the moment for sure. The melodies are beautiful, the vocal lines of quality, you can only succumb to this beautiful surprise signed Qwiet Type.

The realization of the song leaves no room for doubt but above all leaves room for the expression of the talent of the artist, his know-how, his qualities. Without a doubt, Qwiet Type is one of the artists whose publications we will follow in the coming weeks.” Iggy Music

“Well, it is safe to say that Qwiet Type’s new single is a catchy one! It is a tune that features an array of genres: funk, pop, new wave, and electronic. Of course, listeners will quickly notice the electronic side very quickly as it features colorful synthesizers and vocal effects. However, you can hear the other genres in different elements: funk in the beat, new wave in the guitar bits, and pop in the melodies. How the artist puts the different genres together in “Colors In My Dream” is quite remarkable as each element is quite catchy and they blend together so seamlessly.

I recommend listening to the very end as my part is featured there. I can’t tell you the reason why you have to listen to find out! But, please listen to the whole song as “Colors In My Dream” is a beautiful array of electronic funk, and pop that all blend together so well to make a catchy tune!” ai Love Music Blog

Ferris Wheel Cd Baby.jpg

Take a trip into the carnival with Qwiet Type’s new atmospheric genre-crossing EDM-pop single, ‘Ferris Wheel’. Within the first seconds of the electric keys hitting, listeners are instantly taken back to a simpler, nostalgic time. Reminiscent of the Euro-EDM era a few years back, ‘Ferris Wheel’ is a welcomed sonic upgrade, bringing the sound up to speed with Qwiet’s modern, club-ready vocals while borrowing tastefully from other music styles. This track could easily fit into a festival or sundowner party setting, as its slinky, smooth textures hark back to feelings of a relaxed euphoria. You can almost see the neon lights of a ferris wheel glimmering as Qwiet coons, “the twinkle of the night” and “we get to do it again” over this indie electronic track. A real highlight of the song are the bouncy, light strings in the final breakdown of the song, which really tie in well with the track’s climax. If you’re a fan of EDM, indie, alternative, funk, synth pop, electronica, new wave, experimental music and everything in between, you’ll probably have this on rotation. With big replay value, just like a ‘Ferris Wheel’, there’s a high chance that listeners will play this round, round and round. Hop on and take a listen to ‘Ferris Wheel’ now.

Found You Art CD Baby.jpg

Qwiet Type's original Piano Pop ballad, Found You, begins with unassuming keys beneath ethereal vocals in a lyrical exploration of purposeless wandering - then, having convinced the listener of the track's harmonically simple but emotionally salient properties, Qwiet Type incorporates warmly engaging strings in a variety of ranges, building a sense of drive and excitement that speak to a hopeful promise of greater things to come. By the time the drums enter the soundscape, listeners are fully immersed in the sonic world that Qwiet Type has so carefully crafted, experiencing the purpose-laden elation that the lyrics are espousing in tandem with the song's narrator - lost in a sea of cleverly wrought catharsis.

The structure of this song is absolutely brilliant. The instrumental tones are gorgeous, and each independent part fills its role flawlessly - but the decision to hold the strings until 1:35 makes them massive when they land - and the following drum drop at 2:35 is perfectly understated and incredibly satisfying. Very effective harmonic and melodic writing, very repeatable hooks and catchy concepts. Pristine mix and a finely polished final product. This is really stellar work!

Little ole me art square text.jpg

Make space for “Little Ol’ Me” on that list of best songs about changing the world. Earlier this year, Spinditty assembled its selection of 71 songs (if interested, CLICK HERE). The single from Qwiet Type compares favorably with those in the listing.

“Little Ol’ Me” is more than mere advice. The lyrics poetically identify the perceived obstacle to people making a difference, then they present the solution. The world is large; it is too difficult to implement change. There are so many people, so worrying about all of them is daunting. After all, it’s just little ol’ me. The solution? Just beyond two minutes, thirty seconds into the song, the percussion becomes powerful and tribal backing vocals enter. “Spin around” and only worry about the things you can see and feel - the things you value. Qwiet Type describes his single as a message that “the world doesn't seem too overwhelming when you just worry about your own little world.” As the song ends, the declaration is that little ol’ me can effect change.

The instrumentation in “Little Ol’ Me” is equally praiseworthy. The percussion is commanding at times. A brass section is alluring, as is the delicate single woodwind. And the guitar adds to the artistry of the texturing. - Indie Obsessive Blog

“Qwiet Type has released a fantastic new track titled “We Gotta Move” It’s nice to hear actual live instruments like horns in a song, this song had all the elements of an oldie but goodie vibe. I like the vocals also, this type of beat will have you tapping your feet for sure. The last release reached 120,000 streams on Spotify. Be sure to listen to this vintage sound and while you are enjoying it go ahead and share.” - Reignland Blog

Thank You Sound Sniffer for this Wonderful Article!

broken-chain Text final 640.jpg

Solo artist and producer Matt Powell AKA Qwiet Type has just released his most impressive single to date with Chains. We received this tune a few months ago and have been waiting patiently until it’s release to share it around. This one is as catchy as it gets. Brass central.

Chains is a pop number with some of the funkiest brass riffs I’ve heard in ages. It is so uplifting and vibrant from the get go. As soon as the first blast of brass came in, I was sold. Throw in a catchy lyrical hook to accompany and we have a beaut of a tune. Qwiet Type has tickled my fancy with this one.

It’s not often we find absolute hidden gems like this from our submissions. When we do it is the best feeling ever. I think I listened to this one about four times in a row after hearing it first. Finding new breakthrough artists like this reinforces what we are trying to do here at The Sound Sniffer. It is really important that blogs are still around to give these talented people the ears they deserve starting out. If I was a radio DJ, this track would be getting a spin everyday!

Article about '“Shakedown” from music blogger website, Phonograph Me.

Qwiet Type is a one-man project that, directly from his room, writes, composes, plays and produces his magnificent music. A magical fusion of styles that, as we can feel when playing " Shakedown ", touches us deeply, and truly sounds like something new.To me, this song touched me for exactly that reason: for having a new, engaging and magical sound, for having a voice that completes all this symbiosis of elements, and for being, besides striking, very well made. Qwiet Type was a beautiful surprise in a world where it is increasingly difficult to do things that have not yet been done, and I'm waiting for more.

Awesome Article about “FRIENDS” from Queen City Sound and Art

Friends Art Text Final.jpg

Qwiet Type Burns the Blues Away With the Hope of Good Times After a Bad Day on “My Friends are Coming Over” Qwiet Type’s new single “My Friends are Coming Over” shares some of the sonic qualities of the previous single I wrote up, “Shakedown,” like the Gary Numan-esque song structure, the great use of space in the mix and surreal pop sensibility of Harry Nilsson or Supertramp. A playful keyboard figure is counterpoint to syncopated, pounding low end and drums as the vocals tell a story about how it’s been a bad day but one to be salvaged by friends coming over to the rescue with a guaranteed good time. One imagines the songwriter coming home after work and slumping in his chair, staring at the ceiling, spent and then feeling the urge to purge the mood writing a song and while doing so decides to throw some horns into the mix to take over for the keyboards as the song progresses before all the sounds come together to dissolve those bad day vibes in the unusual dynamics like tricking yourself not to get bummed out by latching onto the hope of spending time with people that care about you.
